Media outlets can attend and broadcast the voice of Zandi Khumalo, who was only linked as substantiation number one, in the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled on Thursday.

Moments latterly, Zandi, who’s songster Kelly Khumalo’s family, came into the substantiation stand and started giving her evidence.

The court has ruled that, as in the case former substantiations, visual images of the substantiation shouldn’t be broadcast.

“ The court finds that where a broadcast of visual images of her evidence may bring unintended, adverse consequences to bear upon her, there’s no substantiation proving that an audio broadcast of her substantiation may do the same, ” Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela ruled in court.

“ Taking all prevailing circumstances into consideration, the court finds that substantiation number one didn’t advance sufficient reasons to justify an order confining both visual and audio broadcast of her substantiation, ” Maumela said.

“ At the same time, there’s no reason to subdue substantiation number one to an atmosphere during the course of her evidence, which compares worse to that which prevailed when the last two substantiations three and four for the State gave substantiation. ”

The former two substantiations are Meyiwa’s musketeers Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Twala.

“ In the result, the court makes the following order live broadcast of the image of the substantiation, that’s substantiation number one, won’t be permitted, ” the judge ruled.

“ Members of the electronic media are permitted to live broadcast the evidence of substantiation number one by means of an audio. The prohibition of images of substantiation number one while she testifies shall remain in place until the finalization of this case. ”

preliminarily, on behalf of the substantiation, State prosecutor advocate George Baloyi cited safety and comfort issues raised by the substantiation, should proceedings be held live.

On Wednesday, Baloyi said a live broadcast of proceedings had its own disadvantages and it couldn’t be used as a remedy to open justice.

Baloyi rejected claims that the substantiation was part of the Netflix talkie on the murder of Meyiwa. still, he admitted that she did an interview with eNCA.

Five men, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Mthobisi Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Sifokuhle Ntuli, are facing charges of murder, tried murder, thievery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicensed arm as well as possession of security.
