Netflix has dropped the sanctioned caravan for the largely awaited alternate season of How To Ruin Christmas The Funeral.
This season holds a lot of gleeful firsts for the amalgamated family – Beauty and Sbu’s first marriage anniversary, Lydia and Themba’s first Christmas as parents and the family’s first Christmas without their cherished dame, Gogo Twala who unfortunately passes down after a fun- filled day under the not- so-vigilant eye of Tumi Sello.
We follow the bereft family to KwaZulu-Natal as they snappily band together on Christmas Day to plan the burial of Gogo Twala, which comes with its own set of challenges as the principal mourners descend into city to insure a smooth service and After Gashes event. We find out further about the vivacious Gogo Twala, who, of course, has her own secrets ( did we anticipate anything lower?) and dive deeper into the inner workings of the couples and families as the story unfolds.
This season sees the return of all of your Christmas faves and a new addition to the cast. Assiduity stager, Thembi Nyandeni who has starred in Zone 14 and Isibaya, joins the season as Gogo Twala’s family bringing her own twist to the formerly astral lineup.
One thing’s for sure, Christmas is noway boring with the Sello’s and Twala’s-we promise they ’ll keep you entertained this gleeful season. How To Ruin Christmas The Funeral launches on 10 December 2021, only on Netflix.
The show’s creator, Rethabile Ramaphakela lately reflected on the alternate season of the show, saying, “ Off the reverse of season 1, we know the followership wants answers so now, they will eventually get them as we invite everyone back into the lives of the Sellos and Twalas. How to Ruin Christmas season 2 will still bring that chaotic but relatable family drama with everyone’s favourite black lamb, Tumi Sello, at the centre of it all. We’ve some new faces joining the cast as well as a big twist that will have you reaching for your apkins. We’re so proud that, together with Netflix, we’re suitable to spread some Christmas cheer formerly again in true South African style”.
The series features a star- speckled cast including the likes of Thando Thabethe, Clementine Mosimane, Yonda Thomas, Sandile Mahlangu, Motlatsi Mafatshe, Saint Seseli, Charmaine, Rami Chuene, Trevor Gumbi, Nandi Nyembe and others.
The first season was set against the background of Beauty’s Christmas Marriage, Tumi Sello, Beauty’s aged, worrisome family’s shenanigans came to life, relatively literally after ruining her family’s well- allowed-out marriage. From the unhappy‘ crapulous’, Malome Shadrack, to judgemental aunties, resentful siblings, and nearly guarded family secrets, the three- part series offers up ridiculous homilies that families the world over can relate to.
