Humanity : Siya Kolisi delivers food parcels from the beginning of covid-19 till now

Springbok rugby commander Siya Kolisi has become famous on the rugby pitch with his courageous and hard-hitting exhibitions. Off the field, Kolisi is quick winning a notoriety for his modesty, graciousness and liberality. The Rugby World Cup victor routinely offers back to the less blessed through his Siya Kolisi Foundation and as of late visited the casual settlement of Joe Slovo in Cape Town.

Kolisi and his group were conveying food bundles to the devastated network when one of the inhabitants offered him a bowl of food. Instead of deny the offer or imagine and stash the food away, Kolisi heartily grasped it and appreciated the supper in that spot. A famous photograph of the Bok skipper plunking down on the ground to eat was caught and circulated around the web by means of online life. Andile Human shared the beneath post through Facebook.

The image was subtitled, Captain My Captain: Siya Kolisi at Joe Slovo in Cape Town giving out food packages to the poor in the casual settlements. One of the inhabitants offered him food and he acknowledged and appreciated the feast. What a modest signal!

Introducing my #ChampionsofCare

Lungi Haai – Lungi is not just a beautiful smile, she is so much more. She is helping people in her community to combat poverty every single day via her 2 feeding schemes in Joe Slovo and Gugulethu. Amazingly, without wanting any thanks, Lungi is providing meals for 300 vulnerable children and the elderly every day. Her generosity and selflessness is infectious.

Richard Mabaso – Richard is the Founder of the Imbumba Foundation. He works tirelessly to ensure that people across a multitude of provinces receive the vital food that they need on a daily basis. He not only buys and packs the food but he delivers it too, driving from province to province daily with enthusiasm, uplifting those around him. Richard is a true motivation to us all.

To Lungi and Richard, I stand taller today as a South African knowing that you are representing our beautiful country. You are the real superstars, THANK YOU.

Last Thursday, Rachel spoke to @heart1049fm about the work of the Kolisi Foundation and she touched on a project that would see us help 2 wonderful individuals who, long before the lockdown, were feeding those less fortunate – Lungi who is providing food to hundreds of households across Joe Slovo and Gugulethu and Jonie who is doing the same in Mitchells Plain.

@foodloversmarket heard the story and offered their support immediately, donating product that will together help Lungi and Jonie feed 300+ people each over the next 2 months.

Today, the Kolisi Foundation had the honour of delivering that product directly to these incredible ladies and thank them personally for the difference that they have been making to the community silently. They don’t do this for praise, they do it because it’s in their nature to help others.

One by One we are reaching vulnerable families through the work of @kolisi_foundation partnering with @imbumbafoundation @oldmutualsa @anglo_gold and @nelsonmandelafoundationsa . This past weekend we were able to distribute 500 essential food parcels to families in Zwide via @ubuntupathways . We shall not rest until we feed as many families as physically and financially possible. No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Physical distancing is the role everyone can play in combating the spread of COVID-19. When leaving the house only for essential items, The Department of Health recommends we wear homemade cloth masks. It has been well documented that the virus can be spread with no evident symptoms so it is important that we use these masks to reduce transmission. My wife and I wear these masks to protect our neighbours, our family and our frontline workers who are sacrificing their own lives to save ours. It’s one small way we can say ‘thank you’. Who are you masking for? #MaskingForAFriend
