It was just 2 weeks ago, when Stacey and J Sbu had an interview with Gee Six Five who was riding on her name fame, after releasing what was dubbed successful single at the age of 65.
Her single, ‘Obani Lababantu‘ – which is sung in isiZulu, had gone viral and was even topping the iTunes music charts. Thousands of South Africans streamed and shared the song. She also became a meme on social media solidifying her social media sensation status.
She recently received her Masters and was working towards her PhD at the time of her passing.
Friends, family and fans, including Duduzane Zuma and actress Nelisiwe Sibiya, have flooded social media with tributes to the star and messages of condolences to her family.
My beloved aunt, MumNcane who many of you know as #GeeSixFive is no more. She displayed leadership throughout her life, was the epitome of fearlessness & inspired many with her single #ObaniLababantu.

God literally let her do what she was passionate about before taking her from us, she taught us that anyone’s dreams are valid at any age. Thank you for your final gift to us #RIPGeeSixFive pic.twitter.com/2OVEsCR0QA
